The Constants

The Constants (a name given to them by the few who have witnessed them) are a race of entities from what they claim to be "The space between realities." many details about them are still a mystery at the moment.

each Constant has two things: something to hide their face and a tool to focus their power. none of them are allowed to see the face of another constant (normal aliens simply perceive their face as a black void and are harmless), if a constant sees the face of another constant then both of them will be reverted back to infancy with no memories or power they have gained in their life. also anything that was under effect of their power is free from its influence.

they may seem to have a definite form, but this is far from the truth. during their infancy, a constant is sent out into a random reality. they are tasked with finding another culture to base their appearance and tools on. during this phase of their life they resemble an invisible amorphous mass of energy, which is the closest thing they have to a natural form. once they find a culture they like, they use what they find to make their mask and tool.

the powers of a constant seem to be shared between all members. these include shapeshifing and the ability to warp reality and to conceal themselves from others. if should be noted that when a Constant is talking to a non-Constant, they appear as the same race as whomever they are talking to while their mask and clothes morph to fit them accordingly. however, if they are talking to them anywhere besides reality, like in a dream or between dimensions, they will take their default form.

the power they wield in their tools in immense, they can shatter worlds at will and if enough of them get together, they can even end an entire reality. They can travel across realities and create pocket dimensions for them to access, they can make objects and energy at will but cannot make life, but they are able to manipulate existing life. their society and government (if they even have one) remains a mystery, but some constants have been branded "criminals" in the eyes of others. it should be noted that they have no actual gender, but one may prefer their default form to be one specific gender over the other. they also cannot reproduce in any way. they claim that new Constants are spawned at random, even they don't know what makes them.

Fun Fact: you may notice that i didn't explain the suits that most of them wear, that is simply a fashion choice. they want to wear those all the time so they do.
